If you are in General Psychology for spring semester, starting on Tuesday during 6th period with Mrs. Radtke, it will be held in Senor Johnson's room.

The next Driver’s Ed Class will be starting March 15-26 from 3:15-6:15 in the auditorium. Sign-up sheet is in the High School office. You must be 14 to take the class. Any questions, please call Jeff Rach at 320-859-5584.

If you are interested in becoming a CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) there is an awesome opportunity for you this February at the Galeon...there is room for 2 or 3 more candidates for the course.  You must be 16 years or older. The class is FREE, except for the final written and skills test. The skills test is done @ the Alexandria Technical College. The class would start toward the beginning of February at the Galeon and would be evening classes M-T-W from 3:30-8:00 pm for 6 weeks. Any interested candidates should let Mrs. Bergquist know ASAP and should email Laurie Dykema @ .

We have Backpack Attack grocery bags for students who need some supplemental food for weekends.  Contact Karen Olson, School Social Worker, to let her know, in advance, you are in need of food and she will have a bag available for you in her office.  You can email her at  or just stop by room 215 to let her know you would like some groceries.

ATTENTION ALL SENIORS, On THURSDAY, JANUARY 28th, you will all be meeting at the elementary office at 8:15 to take our senior class picture at 8:20. Please remember to wear your SENIOR SHIRTS! If you don't have a senior shirt for some reason, please wear a plain black shirt. If you are forgetful, put your shirt in your backpack the night before! Students can take the next steps toward UND starting at 9 a.m. (CST) on Jan. 23, when the New Student Transition reservation system officially opens. In this process, students will sign up to be advised and registered virtually for their first semester of classes. If your students haven’t already done so, they will first need to pay the enrollment confirmation deposit (a $200 nonrefundable deposit that applies to charges on their UND bill). It must be paid at least two business days before making reservations. See Schoology for more information.

Attached in Schoology is the application form for the 2021 Cyrus Scholarship.  For full consideration, I must receive this year's applications by April 10, 2021.  New recipients will be notified by April 24.  We will be selecting at least one new Cyrus Scholarship recipient this year.

Minnesota Agriculture Education Leadership Council (MAELC) Scholarships will be awarded up to $5,000/recipient; applications can be obtained online at https://mn.gov/maelc/scholarships/diversity_scholarship.html. Applications for incoming freshmen or undergraduate transfer students must be submitted by February 1, 2021.  Applicant must be entering their first year of an Agricultural Education-Teacher Licensure program at Southwest Minnesota State University, the University of Minnesota – Crookston, or the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities. 
Many of you will be taking the ACT March 31st so here is an opportunity to prep... Greetings and Happy New Year! Melrose will be offering an ACT Prep Course (in-person) in February. The USDA has two Scholars programs that offer scholarships for students seeking a bachelor’s degree at an eligible 1890 and 1994 Land-Grant Universities in the field of agriculture, food, natural resource sciences or other related. High school and current college students are eligible to apply for these two programs which provide full tuition, fees, books, room and board, and a summer internship which may convert to full-time employment with USDA after graduation. Farm Service Agency is assisting the Department with outreach of these opportunities The attached flyer (in Schoology) provides details on the nation’s 1890s and 1994s colleges and universities. The deadline to apply for both scholarships is January 31, 2021. Questions should be directed to the USDA Office of Partnerships and Public Engagement at 202.720.6350.
