Building Blocks for School Success: Early Childhood Family Education

Early Childhood Family Education (ECFE)is an Osakis Public school program available to all families with children between the ages of birth to kindergarten. ECFE's mission is to strengthen families through the education and support of all parents, helping them to provide the best possible environment for the healthy growth and development of their children based on the belief that parents are the first and most important teachers of their children.

What are the reasons people come to ECFE?

-To spend time with their children

- To meet other parents and children

-To have a safe place for their children to experience separation during the parent discussion time

-To learn how to make their job as a parent easier

-To help their child learn to be more successful in school

-There is a sliding scale fee

-Parent/Child activity Time

This is a chance for the child and parent to play, learn, discover and enjoy each other using age appropriate activities/skills prepared by staff. Circle time brings the whole group together for stories and songs.

-Parent Education Time

This provides support to parents in their very important job of child rearing, with information on child development and parenting skills. During the separation, a license early childhood teacher, along with other caring adult helpers, care for the children.
